Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all aspects of store operations, including staffing, training, merchandising, and customer service. The role requires ensuring daily store functions run smoothly, meeting sales targets, and maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards.

The manager will supervise staff, conduct evaluations, manage cash handling, and coordinate with district leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of management experience in a retail environment.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and loss prevention.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees per laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for counseling or termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinates meetings and events to ensure safety and policies.
• Ensures consistent store opening/closing and staffing coverage.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify sales trends, profitability, expenses, shrink, and errors.
• Manages stock replenishment, ordering plans, and inventory counts to meet in‑stock targets.
• Maintains organized merchandise presentation and signage; enforces pricing standards.
• Protects cash handling, deposits, and security procedures.
