Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is hiring an Assistant Manager in our Retail department. You will lead store operations, drive excellent customer service, and support our ARC rehabilitation programs by mentoring beneficiaries.

Responsibilities include achieving sales and income budgets, managing expenses, supervising staff, coordinating scheduling, and safeguarding cash and inventory. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years previous Retail Management/Supervisory experience (thrift preferred).
• Basic understanding of office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must hold a valid Driver's license, able to pass MVR report (required), able to show proof of insurance and have access to a motor vehicle.
• Must pass background check, which will include Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Takes an active role and partners with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the store.
• Assumes responsibility for all day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Assists Store Manager to monitor and analyze key performance indicators to drive store sales and increase profitability.
• In the absence of Store Manager - Schedule Store Employees to ensure appropriate coverage in store and donation center.
• Assists Store Manager with the hiring, training and directing the store team and performance coaching.
• Communicate any personnel issues and performance results with Store Manager.
• Ensuring high levels of Customer and Donor satisfaction through excellent service.
• BRP – Supporting the Store Manager to ensure Back Room Processors are working effectively.
• Responsible for supervision, support, and conduct reporting of program Beneficiaries.
