Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking an Assistant Manager for our Retail department in a full-time position. You will work closely with the Store Manager to oversee daily store operations, ensure customer and donor satisfaction, manage staff schedules, and support Back Room Processing.

Responsibilities include supervising personnel, monitoring KPIs, training and developing staff, and maintaining security of cash and inventory in a mission-driven environment that serves beneficiaries

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years previous Retail Management/Supervisory experience (thrift preferred).
• Basic understanding of office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must pass background check, which will include Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Takes an active role and partners with the Store Manager in day-to-day store operations.
• Assists Store Manager to monitor and analyze key performance indicators to drive store sales and increase profitability.
• In the absence of Store Manager - Schedule Store Employees to ensure appropriate coverage in store and donation center.
• Assists Store Manager with the hiring, training and directing the store team to ensure proficiency of processes.
• Communicate any personnel issues and performance results with Store Manager and HR.
• Ensuring high levels of Customer and Donor satisfaction through excellent service.
• BRP (Back Room Processing) – Supporting the Store Manager to ensure Back Room Processors are working effectively.
• Responsible for supervision and reporting of Beneficiaries if Work Therapy Assignments are in place.
• Protect and secure store currency, inventory, and property.
• The building must be secured during non-operating hours with alarm and protocol.
• Assists Store Manager with Weekly Safety Meetings and ARC policy compliance.
