Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California in Kailua, HI seeks an Assistant Manager for our Retail department. You will lead daily store operations, manage staff, handle cash, and ensure excellent customer service while meeting sales budgets.

You will coach Beneficiaries in Work Therapy Assignments, implement ARC merchandising standards, and collaborate with program staff to support our social and rehabilitation programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years retail management/supervisory experience (thrift preferred).
• Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Valid Driver's license, able to pass MVR, access to a vehicle.
• Must pass background check (Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry).
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Take active role with Store Manager in day-to-day store operations (opening/closing, POS, inventory, donations).
• Oversee personnel and cash handling in Store Manager's absence.
• Monitor KPIs to drive sales and profitability per budgets/goals.
• Schedule staff coverage and lead daily/shift meetings.
• Hire, train and develop store team; provide performance coaching.
• Handle personnel issues in coordination with HR and management.
• Ensure high customer and donor satisfaction and maintain community relations.
• Support Back Room Processing and ARC compliance as needed.
• Ensure security of currency, inventory and property; oversee cash deposits.
• Adhere to ARC safety policies and attend required safety meetings.
