Job summary

Michaels is seeking a Sales Manager for Machesney Park, IL to lead a high-performing selling culture, drive sales, and deliver an engaging customer experience. You will oversee front-end and service operations, coach staff, and ensure adherence to SOPs, company programs, and brand standards.

The role requires 3+ years of retail leadership, strong coaching, and hands-on supervision of POS/checkout, BOPIS, and in-store events. Evening, weekend, and early morning shifts are included.

Qualifications

• 3+ years retail leadership experience.
• Ability to stand for long periods and move around the store.
• Lift up to 25–50 pounds with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in leading SOPs and Company programs to ensure compliance with laws and requirements.
• Ensure execution of Company policies and standards, holding team accountable for store conditions and results.
• Model and coach Customer Experience and ART of Selling behaviors to drive conversion and customer satisfaction.
• Provide Manager-on-Duty coverage, maintaining floor leadership and service standards.
• Ensure accurate use of POS and Self-Checkout systems for smooth transactions and support.
• Oversee Balloons business, birthday party operations, and other in-store programs and events.
• Promote and enroll customers in the Loyalty Rewards Program to drive retention.
• Drive sales and operational excellence in Knit & Sew Shop and Cut Bar experience.
• Oversee BOPIS and Same Day Delivery to ensure timely order fulfillment.
• Support Custom Framing operations, including customer consultations and coordination with the frame shop.
• Train and develop team members through onboarding and ongoing skill-building.
• Partner in Asset Protection to reduce shrink through awareness and safe operations.
