Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in prescription processing, inventory management, and patient-focused service within the hospital pharmacy. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required with additional broad training in fields such as medical office administration, pharmacy technician, social services or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of associate's degree program, or pharmacy technician program.
• 6-months Pharmacy technician experience or healthcare experience required; specialty/retail experience preferred.
• Current registration/licensure or eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of employment; Active PTCB certification or equivalent within 12 months of hire.
• Strong customer service and communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel; able to prioritize and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Prescription Processing & Preparation: locate and enter patient demographics, transcribe orders, assist with third party adjudication, assist in cost management, prepare and label medications for verification, handle LTC prescriptions per policy.
• Customer Service: assist patients with register transactions and phone calls, locate OTC items, respond to nursing and medical staff, maintain HIPAA compliance, use AIDET and service pledge.
• Department Maintenance: keep a clean work area, maintain regulatory records, stock pharmacy items, assist with opening/closing procedures.
• Inventory management: stock OTC items, manage stock movement, remove expired medications, receive medications from wholesalers, perform daily cycle counts, identify items for reordering.
