Job summary

SpartanNash, a food solutions company, seeks a department operations leader to oversee day-to-day activities in a retail store. You will train associates, ensure staffing, and meet company KPIs while maintaining product freshness and quality through proper inventory management.

You will manage scheduling, payroll, and performance; lead a team in stocking, production, and store duties; develop forecasts and goals for the department, and collaborate in daily huddles and district meetings.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED).
• Two years of retail experience preferred.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Depending on company location, ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities of the department operations in a retail store.
• Order and maintain inventory in your department; manage shelf-life and quality.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight; ensure proper storage.
• Manage a team to complete stocking, production, and tasks ensuring quality and rotation.
• Maintain familiarity with all products in the department and store.
• Communicate weekly and period Flight Plan to meet company expectations.
• Implement and maintain work schedules, labor control, and payroll expense for the department.
• Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts.
• Attend daily huddles and meetings; participate in district and company-level meetings.
• Ensure a clean, well-stocked department and adherence to food safety guidelines.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and company policies; take corrective action when needed.
