Job summary

SpartanNash in Michigan is seeking a department leader to run day-to-day store operations, ensuring staffing, training, and achievement of company standards and KPIs. You will manage inventory, scheduling, and collaborate with store teams.

Responsibilities include ordering and maintaining inventory, reviewing received orders, leading a team, maintaining product knowledge, executing ads and promotions, and adhering to safety and guest experience guidelines while meeting company goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Knowledge of retail store operations and retail management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Spanish language ability desirable depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Order and maintain inventory in the department, using inventory control procedures to ensure freshness and quality.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight, and proper storage.
• Lead a team to complete stocking, production, and related tasks, ensuring product quality and proper rotation.
• Maintain familiarity with products in the department and store.
• Know ads, special prices, coupon deals, and rewards programs.
• Communicate and execute Flight Plans per company expectations.
• Assist in scheduling, labor control, overtime control, and payroll expenses for the department.
• Model company values and support department goals and forecasts.
• Participate in daily huddles and meetings as required.
• Maintain a clean, stocked department and follow safety and food safety guidelines.
