Job summary

PetSmart is seeking a Retail Operations Lead to drive in-store excellence, oversee merchandising, inventory, and pet care operations, and supervise associates during opening and closing shifts. You will enforce brand standards, train staff, manage POS transactions, and ensure a safe, inviting shopping environment.

The role requires 2+ years in retail supervision, full-time availability (evenings, weekends, holidays), and strong communication skills to deliver exceptional customer and pet-parent

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Full-time availability required, flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining a visually appealing store layout.

Responsibilities

• Support and guide sales associates in merchandise handling, providing training on product knowledge and presentation standards.
• Facilitates the associate experience and supports associate development including training, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Delegate and validate completion of daily tasks.
• Leads and directs associates when acting as the leader on duty.
• Address and administer associate complaints and grievances.
• Recognizes and celebrates associates driving engagement.
• Execute merchandise strategies to optimize sales, including receiving of product, placement, displays, and promotions.
• Manage inventory levels, conduct audits, analyze sales trends for stock replenishment and markdowns.
• Operate POS systems and handle cash with accuracy.
• Ensure store standards and compliance with Policies, Procedures and Code of Ethics.
• Participate in opening/closing procedures and cycle counts.
• Maintain pet care and sanitation standards and ensure pets’ health and safety.
