Job summary

PetSmart is seeking a Retail Operations Lead to drive store-level operational excellence. You will supervise merchandising, inventory, and pet care operations while opening/closing procedures and ensuring a safe, engaging shopping environment.

The role emphasizes leading associates, coaching on product knowledge and presentation, and maintaining strong communication with the team. Full-time availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Full-time availability required, flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining a visually appealing store layout.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide sales associates in merchandise handling and presentation standards.
• Provide training, onboarding, mentoring, coaching for growth, and contribute to performance reviews.
• Delegate and validate completion of daily tasks.
• Act as Leader on Duty when required and supervise associates in absence of higher leadership.
• Address associate concerns and assist with disciplinary actions when needed.
• Execute merchandise strategies to optimize sales, including receiving, display setup, and promotions.
• Manage inventory levels, perform audits, and analyze sales trends for stock replenishment and markdowns.
• Operate POS systems and handle cash transactions per company policies.
• Maintain store standards and compliance with Policies & Procedures and Code of Ethics.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures and monthly live cycle counts.
• Ensure pet care quality and safety, including handling of new arrivals and sick pets, and arrange vet transport when needed.
