Goodwill Industries Southern New England Inc. is seeking a Retail Material Handler in Middletown, CT.

The role includes loading and unloading trucks, assisting donors and customers, and preparing donated goods for processing, under the direction of store or outlet managers. Regular weekend, holiday, and evening hours are common, with potential cross-training to duties of janitor, sorter, and sales associate based on business needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, not required; and one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Students under the age of 18 may be hired part-time but may not operate hazardous equipment and must follow CT DOL hours rules for minors.

Responsibilities

• Follow instructions or work orders to determine materials and containers to be moved.
• Assist donors by bringing donated merchandise from vehicle into the store and help customers with heavy purchases to their vehicle.
• Sort, price, and grade newly arrived goods.
• Move materials using hand trucks, carts, pallet jacks, or equipment.
• Stock shelves, counters, and tables.
• Prepare shipping documentation and label crates for transport.
• Lift heavy objects and maintain a clean work area.
• Assist at designated outlets with fixtures and donated goods.
