Job summary

Goodwill Southern New England is seeking a Retail Material Handler to move and process donated goods, assist customers, and prepare items for display. The role involves loading and unloading, stocking shelves, and helping maintain orderly store environments.

Regular weekend, holiday, and evening hours are common; cross-training to support janitorial and sales duties may occur. Physical duties include lifting up to 100 lbs and using hand trucks and pallet jacks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, not required; 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Students under 18 may be hired part-time but may not operate hazardous equipment and must follow CT DOL hours rules.
• Ability to read simple instructions and communicate with customers one-on-one.

Responsibilities

• Move materials using hand trucks, carts, pallet jacks or similar equipment.
• Assist donors loading donations from vehicles into the store and help customers with purchases.
• Sort, price and stock new arrivals; prepare inventory and laminate crates for shipping.
• Follow safety procedures; keep work areas clean and report unsafe conditions.
