Job summary

Goodwill Southern New England is seeking a Retail Material Handler to move materials, assist donors and customers, and prepare goods for processing. The role involves loading and unloading, sorting and pricing donated items, and maintaining a tidy work area under Store or Outlet management.

The position may require weekend and holiday hours, with responsibilities including assisting with shipments, handling heavy items, and supporting various a retail operations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, not required; 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to communicate with customers in one-on-one situations.

Responsibilities

• Move materials and crates using hand truck, carts, pallet jack or straddle stacker.
• Assist donors by carrying donated merchandise into the store and help customers with purchases to their vehicle.
• Sort, price and grade newly arrived goods and prepare inventory of stock as required.
• Lift heavy objects by hand and maintain a clean work area and equipment.
• Assist at designated retail outlets with setup and movement of fixtures and goods.
