Job summary

Goodwill of Southern New England is seeking a Retail Material Handler to move donated items from the loading area to the store floor, assist donors and shoppers, and prepare goods for processing under the Store Manager or Outlet Manager. Weekend and holiday hours are typical in this retail role, with occasional evenings.

Cross-training may include duties of a Janitor, Retail Material Sorter or Sales Associate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, not required; 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Students under 18 may be hired part-time with restrictions per regulations.

Responsibilities

• Follow work orders to move materials and containers.
• Assist donors by carrying donated merchandise into the store and customers to their vehicle.
• Sort, price and grade newly arrived goods.
• Convey materials using hand truck, carts or pallet jack.
• Load and unload, and prepare shipping documentation as needed.
• Stock shelves and count/record stock movements.
• Assist at designated outlets with fixtures and donated goods.
• Lift heavy objects and maintain a clean work area.
• Follow safety guidelines and report hazards to supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
