Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is offering a temporary training program to learn all facets of operating a retail store and to prepare for eventual installation as a General Manager. The program includes guidance from the Retail Manager, Production Manager, and General Manager, with emphasis on standards, customer service, and store operations.

Participants will meet with home office teams to understand HR, Accounting, Marketing, and Transportation interfaces and will gain hands-on experience in

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 2–5 years previous retail management experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Great customer service skills and the ability to handle customer complaints in a fair, impartial and professional manner.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in handling day-to-day situations.

Responsibilities

• Learn procedures to operate all facets of the retail store and production under guidance.
• Demonstrate adherence to operating standards in reporting, scheduling, cash handling, merchandising, and budgeting.
• Meet with home office departments to understand interfaces with the field (HR, Accounting, Marketing, Transportation).
• Temporary assignment with potential progression to General Manager.
