Madewell, part of J.Crew Group, seeks an Assistant Manager to join our leadership team in California. You will drive profitability through genuine customer connections, brand loyalty, and community engagement, providing coaching to the sales team and collaborating on strategies for business success.

You will support operations, staffing, and training while ensuring a best-in-class customer experience and smooth store performance across divisions such as Visual Merchandising, HR, and Selling.

• 1–2 years of retail management experience with a similar scope.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Director & Associate Store Manager to impact business results and profitability.
• Own your division of responsibility (Visual Merchandising, Operations, HR, Service & Selling).
• Manage store operations, systems, and technology while ensuring accountability.
• Assist with recruiting, training and development efforts, if needed.
• Partner to create a collaborative working environment for all associates.
• Ensure the team exceeds goals and provides best-in-class customer service.
• Lead fit sessions to boost product knowledge for associates and authentic connections.
• Develop community engagement and loyalty through events.
• Step into various roles on the sales floor when needed.
