Job summary

Micro Center, the nation’s leading computer and electronics big box retailer, seeks self-motivated Retail Computer Technicians in Rockville, MD. Start at $18/hour base with incentives to raise to $21–$35/hour as you grow.

You’ll split time between the service counter and shop, diagnosing devices, guiding customers through repair options, and building customer loyalty with clear communication and reliable service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 1 year related computer service repair or technical customer service experience preferred.
• CompTIA A+ or Apple ACMT/ACiT certifications or ability to certify within 90 days of hire.
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for prolonged periods.
• Shifts include mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person consultations and troubleshooting to customers at the service counter on computers and electronics.
• Recommend service solutions including data backups, anti-virus, extended warranties, and support subscriptions.
• Identify, diagnose, and document hardware or software problems across devices (desktops, laptops, mobiles, TVs, monitors).
• Assemble custom computers for BYO sales team.
• Interpret technical manuals and stay current on certifications and product knowledge.
• Maintain cash till, process transactions, and keep the department clean and inventory tracked.
• Communicate service status to customers via face-to-face, phone, text, and email.
