Job summary

MICRO CENTER in New York is seeking self-motivated Retail Computer Technicians, starting at $16.50/hour with productivity incentives up to $35/hour. If you love computers and want to maximize earnings based on productivity, Micro Center is the place for you.

You'll split time between the service counter helping customers and the shop diagnosing and repairing devices, with uncapped commissions and opportunities to build custom PCs. Micro Center has cared for associates for 40+ years.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, related computer service repair or technical customer service experience preferred.
• CompTIA A+ certification or Apple ACMT/ACiT certifications, or ability to certify within 90 days of hire; Apple certifications highly desirable.
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task and adjust priorities.
• Physical requirements: lift up to 50 lbs; stand for prolonged periods.
• Shifts include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person consultations and troubleshooting at the service counter.
• Recommend service solutions including data backups, anti-virus, extended warranties, and subscriptions.
• Identify, diagnose, and document hardware/software issues on desktops, laptops, mobiles, TVs, and monitors.
• Assemble custom computers for the BYO sales team.
• Maintain knowledge of manuals and vendor certifications; keep up to date on products and tech.
• Maintain cash till, handle transactions, and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Communicate repair status to customers via face-to-face, phone, text, and email.
