Job summary

JCPenney is seeking an Asset Protection Specialist focused on shrink, theft prevention, and investigation. You will observe activities, collect evidence, document investigations, and report fraud to store leadership while aligning with AP directives.

You will also support safety initiatives, conduct interviews, and travel to designated stores as needed to protect customers and associates.

Qualifications

• 1+ years retail work experience/Asset Protection/Security or equivalent leadership experience/education preferred.
• Must be age 18+.
• High School diploma or equivalent work experience; AA/BA/BS in Criminal Justice or Business Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity.
• Collect investigative evidence using CCTV and sales-floor observations.
• Execute required Company investigation routines to identify and resolve theft and document all stages.
• Conduct external interviews in accordance with laws and Company policy with customers and contractors suspected of theft.
• Report suspected fraud and policy infractions to AP and/or Store leadership.
• Create and manage records for reporting apprehension, witness statements, and evidence disposition.
• Based on direction from Asset Protection leadership, collect evidence or monitor associate activity in investigations.
• Identify potential acts of theft and fraud by observing activity and referrals.
• Investigate suspicious behavior and document observations.
• Attend court hearings and update files; liaise with local law enforcement.
• Travel to stores as necessary.
• Analyze intelligence on individuals and booster groups involved in theft.
