Job summary

JCPenney is seeking an Asset Protection Specialist responsible for detecting theft, conducting investigations, and documenting evidence across stores. You will perform internal/external interviews, report to AP leadership, and travel to designated locations as needed to uphold security standards.

The role emphasizes compliance with company policy, court appearances when required, and collaboration with store leadership to communicate shrinkage and safety topics.

Qualifications

• 1+ years retail work experience or Asset Protection leadership preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent; AA/BA/BS in Criminal Justice or Business Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity and document evidence.
• Execute required investigation routines to identify and resolve theft and document all stages.
• Conduct external interviews with customers and contractors suspected of theft.
• Report suspected fraud and policy infractions to AP and/or Store leadership.
• Create and manage records for reporting apprehension, witness statements, retention of evidence, and disposition of recovered merchandise.
• Collect evidence and monitor associate activity as needed for internal investigations and serve as an interview witness.
• Identify potential acts of theft by observing associate and customer activity and referrals.
• Investigate suspicious behavior and document findings.
• Attend court hearings as required and coordinate with local law enforcement.
• Travel to stores as necessary.
• Analyze intelligence on individuals involved in theft.
