Job summary

Sage Specialty Hospital (LTAC) in Lake Charles, LA, is hiring Respiratory Therapists (RTs) for full-time and PRN positions. You will provide respiratory therapies, document care, and communicate with the care team to ensure quality patient service.

Ideal candidates are NBRC-credentialed, AMA-educated, and capable of handling long-term care needs with a flexible schedule and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Credentialed by NBRC and graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Knowledge of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices for long-term care.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide general respiratory therapies: oxygen, medical gas, humidification and suction.
• Document procedures, analyze data, and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate patient information to physicians and caregivers.
• Educate staff on respiratory therapy practices.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Monitor patient progress and update care plans as needed.

Requirements

• Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and be a graduate of an approved AMA school of Respiratory Therapy
• Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines governing long term care
• Must be able to work flexible schedule including 12-hour shifts

Duties

• Provide general respiratory therapeutic services including oxygen, medical gas, humidification and suction therapies.
• Document patient/resident procedures, organize and analyze data, maintain accurate records.
• Communicate relevant patient/resident information to appropriate physicians and caregivers
• Provide staff education related to respiratory therapy
• Exhibits commitment to results by looking for and recommending/implementing process improvements
• Monitor patient/resident progress and update respiratory care plan as needed
