Job summary

Sage Specialty Hospital (LTAC) in Baton Rouge is hiring PRN Respiratory Therapists (RT). Qualified candidates are credentialed by NBRC and graduated from an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program. The role requires flexibility to work 12-hour shifts in a long-term care setting.

As part of our team, you’ll provide respiratory therapies, document patient care, and collaborate with physicians and caregivers. Strong communication and patient-care focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Credentialed by NBRC and graduate of an AMA Respiratory Therapy program.
• Knowledge of long-term care practices, laws and guidelines.
• Able to work flexible 12-hour shifts and provide patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapies including oxygen, gases, humidification and suction.
• Document procedures, organize data and maintain records.
• Communicate patient information to physicians and caregivers.
• Educate staff on respiratory therapy.
• Identify process improvements and implement changes.
• Monitor progress and update care plans as needed.

Requirements

• Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and be a graduate of an approved AMA school of Respiratory Therapy
• Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines governing long term care
• Must be able to work flexible schedule including 12 hour shifts
• Patient care oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Duties

• Provide general respiratory therapeutic services including oxygen, medical gas, humidification and suction therapies.
• Document patient/resident procedures, organize and analyze data, maintain accurate records.
• Communicate relevant patient/resident information to appropriate physicians and caregivers
• Provide staff education related to respiratory therapy
• Exhibits commitment to results by looking for and recommending/implementing process improvements
• Monitor patient/resident progress and update respiratory care plan as needed
