Job summary

Sage Specialty Hospital (LTAC) in Opelousas, LA seeks a full-time Respiratory Therapist to join our LTAC team. Eligible candidates have NBRC credentials and graduated from an AMA Respiratory Therapy program. The role supports 12-hour shifts and offers a $7,500 sign-on bonus along with extensive benefits.

Qualifications

• NBRC credentialed and graduate of an AMA Respiratory Therapy program.
• Knowledgeable of long-term care nursing and medical practices and regulations.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including 12-hour shifts.
• Patient care oriented with strong communication skills.
• Committed to ongoing staff education in respiratory therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide general respiratory services including oxygen, medical gas, humidification and suction therapies.
• Document patient procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate patient information to physicians and caregivers.
• Provide staff education related to respiratory therapy.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance care.
• Monitor patient progress and update care plans as needed.

Requirements

• Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and be a graduate of an approved AMA school of Respiratory Therapy
• Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines governing long term care
• Must be able to work flexible schedule including 12-hour shifts
• Patient care oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Positive attitude

Duties

• Provide general respiratory therapeutic services including oxygen, medical gas, humidification and suction therapies.
• Document patient/resident procedures, organize and analyze data, maintain accurate records.
• Communicate relevant patient/resident information to appropriate physicians and caregivers
• Provide staff education related to respiratory therapy
• Exhibits commitment to results by looking for and recommending/implementing process improvements
• Monitor patient/resident progress and update respiratory care plan as needed
