Job summary

Sage Specialty Hospital (LTAC) in Baton Rouge, LA is hiring PRN Respiratory Therapists. You will provide respiratory therapy services, document care, and communicate with physicians and caregivers while upholding patient-focused standards.

Ideal candidates are NBRC credentialed graduates of AMA-approved RT programs, flexible for 12-hour shifts, and prepared to educate staff as needed. ESOP ownership and a supportive LTAC environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be NBRC credentialed and a graduate of an approved AMA school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices for long-term care.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services including oxygen, medical gas, humidification and suction.
• Document procedures, analyze data and maintain records.
• Communicate patient information to physicians and caregivers.
• Provide staff education related to respiratory therapy.
• Support process improvements and monitor patient progress with care plans.

Requirements

• Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and be a graduate of an approved AMA school of Respiratory Therapy
• Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines governing long term care
• Must be able to work flexible schedule including 12 hour shifts
• Patient care oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Positive attitude

Duties

• Provide general respiratory therapeutic services including oxygen, medical gas, humidification and suction therapies.
• Document patient/resident procedures, organize and analyze data, maintain accurate records.
• Communicate relevant patient/resident information to appropriate physicians and caregivers
• Provide staff education related to respiratory therapy
• Exhibits commitment to results by looking for and recommending/implementing process improvements
• Monitor patient/resident progress and update respiratory care plan as needed
