Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in oxygen delivery methods and equipment; conducts prescribed therapies.
• Administers therapeutic procedures and explains purpose, benefits, and potential effects.
• Performs diagnostic procedures as per policy and standards.
• Initiates and monitors mechanical and non-invasive ventilation; understands critical care duties.
• Independently evaluates therapies and recommends plans of care and patient education needs.
• Documents therapy and results per hospital and regulatory requirements; communicates with care team.
• Initiates, conducts and adjusts respiratory care in emergency settings.
• Performs and interprets blood gas sampling with understanding of results and implications.
• Works independently across patient care areas and assists team as needed.
• Follows safety guidelines and completes regulatory requirements; completes annual proficiency eval of equipment.
• Proficient with EMR interfaces in Respiratory Care.
