Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide expert oxygen delivery, ventilator support, and diagnostic procedures. The role requires independent work across care areas, adherence to safety protocols, and proficiency with EMR systems.

Collaboration with the care team to optimize patient outcomes is essential. The ideal candidate has an AMA-approved respiratory care education, RRT credential, state license, BLS, and 2+ years in critical care settings.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Associate's RRT or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the applicable state.
• BLS required per policy guidelines.
• For ED and Virtual Critical Care, 2 years' critical care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in oxygen delivery modes and equipment for each method.
• Administers therapeutic procedures and understands their purpose and benefits.
• Performs diagnostic procedures per policy.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators.
• Evaluates therapies and recommends care plans and patient education.
• Documents therapy and communicates results to healthcare team.
• Initiates and modifies respiratory care techniques in emergencies.
• Performs blood sampling analysis and interprets results.
• Works independently across patient care areas and assists others.
• Follows safety guidelines and completes regulatory requirements.
• Completes annual proficiency evaluation of respiratory care equipment.
