Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver and monitor oxygen therapy and ventilator support across patient care areas. The role requires evaluating therapies, documenting results, and communicating with the team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The candidate should have an Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy, NBRC credential, and licensure in the state of work; BLS is required, with advanced certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and supervises equipment for each.
• Administers therapeutic procedures, understands purpose/benefits and possible effects.
• Initiates, monitors and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators.
• Evaluates current therapies using judgment and protocols, and makes care plans.
• Documents therapy and results; communicates with healthcare team.
• Performs respiratory procedures in emergencies and analyzes blood gas results.
• Works independently in patient areas and uses electronic medical records.
• Follows safety guidelines and completes regulatory requirements; annual equipment proficiency.
