Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with an associate degree.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the state of practice.
• NBRC credential: RRT within 12 months or CRT credential if prior to 2023.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Supports patient assessment using pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph interpretation, hemodynamic values, and blood gas analysis.
• Operates ventilators in critical and non-critical care settings; assists physicians with bedside procedures.
• Administers prescribed respiratory therapies and medications.
• Maintains and troubleshoots equipment; ensures safe operation and reports needs for service or repair.
• Educates patients on therapy purpose, technique, self-care, and disease management.
