Job summary

Responsibilities include monitoring, collaborating with care teams, and responding to emergencies while adhering to safety and accreditation standards. Acute care experience and active licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in respiratory care (AMA-accredited program) required
• AAS degree or higher required
• Bachelor’s degree in related healthcare field preferred
• Less than 1 year acute care experience; registry eligible required
• RCP license in Maryland and/or DC required
• CRT certification required; NBRC
• RRT certification preferred
• CPR (BLS/NRP) within 90 days required
• ACLS/NRP/PALS and related certifications required within 1 year where applicable

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to all patient populations per physician orders and standards
• Assess patients and document physical, psychosocial, educational needs
• Perform all respiratory therapies and manage equipment (oxygen, ventilators, bronchodilators, humidity, spirometry, blood gas analysis)
• Communicate with patients and families; maintain therapeutic relationships
• Review EMRs and physician orders; monitor patient status during shift
• Respond to CPR need and assist with airway management and ventilation
