Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care across all patient populations in a hospital setting. The role involves delivering treatments, monitoring equipment, and ensuring patient safety according to physician orders and established protocols.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree in Respiratory Care with license in Maryland/DC, CRT and CPR/NRP, and preferably RRT.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of human respiratory anatomy, physiology and pathology.
• Ability to assess patient educational needs and document.
• Ability to work with patients of all ages and remain calm under stress.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care as ordered by physician according to standards.
• Assess patient needs and document physical, psychosocial and educational aspects.
• Perform respiratory therapy procedures and manage equipment (oxygen, vents, spirometry, ABG analysis).
• Communicate effectively and participate in crisis management when needed.
• Review electronic medical records and monitor patient status during shift.
