Job description

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist 2 to join the team. This role will be PRN.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Establishes and manages basic mechanical ventilation with high proficiency and minimal supervision. Uses complex forms of mechanical ventilation (e.g., HFO, NPPV, PRVC, transport) with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
2. Performs weaning mechanics as ordered with high proficiency in over 90% of ventilated patients.
3. Reviews the need for continued ventilator support, including spontaneous breathing trials and weaning, with high proficiency on a daily basis. Develops or refines ventilator care plans and communicates with the patient care team.
4. Formulates care plans based on patient diagnostics, response to therapy, and physiologic profiles, ensuring they adhere to departmental standards.
5. Administers advanced respiratory interventions (e.g., heliox, nitric oxide, CNB, Chest Wall Oscillation) with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.

Additional Requirements:

1. Graduate of an accredited CoARC respiratory care program.
2. At least six months in a critical care environment or over one year of specialized training in advanced diagnostics or pulmonary rehabilitation.
3. Certified Respiratory Therapist by the NBRC or over 10 years of experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
4. Basic Life Support certification from AHA upon start.
5. Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS, or NRP) must be obtained within one year of hire.
6. Licensed Respiratory Therapist eligible to practice in Virginia.
7. Work Schedule: PRN.
