Job summary

AdaptHealth in Maryland is seeking a Respiratory Support Technician to provide comprehensive direct and indirect patient care across home, office, and hospital settings in line with policies. You will serve as a subject matter expert, conduct new hire training, and mentor team members while ensuring efficient delivery of equipment and services.

The role requires setting up PAP equipment, performing routine maintenance, following HIPAA, managing paperwork, and coordinating with clinicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Related experience in construction, general manual labor, military, or equipment repair is considered relevant.
• Experience in Medicare-certified HME environment with routine insurance billing is preferred.
• Knowledge of respiratory therapy or DME services is preferred.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license from the state of residence is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Respiratory Department Staff, CPAP/BIPAP Program Managers, and Operations Managers to provide equipment instruction, service, and troubleshooting for respiratory patients.
• Set up and fit PAP patients with appropriate equipment and masks, communicating instructions and processes in a professional, informative, and appropriate manner.
• Conduct patient follow-up calls and visits to ensure optimal care outcomes; contact clinical support when urgent patient needs are identified during home visits.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance checks and simple repairs per company policy and manufacturer guidelines, and troubleshoot equipment failures with patience and professionalism.
• Report equipment hazards and product incidents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Maintain working knowledge of current Respiratory Programs and HME products and services.
• Complete all required company, insurance, and government paperwork accurately and timely, including delivery tickets, safety checklist forms, patient booklet receipts, ABNs, AMAs, and equipment-specific instruction and cleaning forms.
• Develop and maintain basic reimbursement knowledge to ensure proper documentation for billing purposes.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and operate within HIPAA guidelines and AdaptHealth's Compliance Program, completing assigned compliance training and educational programs.
• Adhere to procedures for PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials handling.
• Assist with implementation of quality improvement programs to meet company standards.
• Promote services and products to community referral sources as appropriate.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Related experience in construction/manual labor/military/equipment repair

Medicare certified HME environment insurance billing experience
