Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Orlando, FL seeks a Resilience and Emergency Management Intern to support resilience, emergency management, disaster recovery, grants and planning projects for public-sector clients. You will assist with data collection, reporting, GIS support, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams, learning SharePoint and project systems while gaining hands-on exposure to FEMA/HUD programs.

Qualifications

• No professional experience required; internship suitable.
• 60+ credit hours toward degree by start of internship.
• Preferred fields include Emergency Management, Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Geography/GIS, Environmental Studies, Planning, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Communications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with AI-enabled productivity tools; ability to learn SharePoint.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; experience with spreadsheets, data entry, document review, research; exposure to ArcGIS, Power BI, Smartsheet, Adobe Acrobat, FEMA grant systems.

Responsibilities

• Support resilience, emergency management, disaster recovery, grant, and planning projects through research, data collection, document development, meeting coordination, and follow-up activities.
• Review, organize, track, and maintain grant applications, reimbursement requests, plans, project records, and related documentation in accordance with program requirements and quality standards.
• Prepare correspondence, meeting summaries, presentations, maps, reports, briefing materials, forms, logs, and other project deliverables for internal and client use.
• Maintain project information, datasets, dashboards, SharePoint sites, databases, spreadsheets, and other systems of record to support project delivery and reporting.
• Conduct research and analysis, including data compilation, data visualization, mapping, GIS support, technical summaries, and reviews of program guidance, policies, and resilience-related topics.
• Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance of project documents, datasets, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with grants specialists, planners, engineers, project managers, technical staff, clients, and stakeholders to support project execution, public engagement, site visits, planning activities, and funding programs, including FEMA, HUD, and state agencies.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of project, client, office, and organizational needs.
