Job summary

Valiant Residential is hiring an Assistant Maintenance to support the maintenance supervisor and help maintain property integrity. You’ll work with the leasing team to maximize renewals and leasing opportunities, while prioritizing safety and policy compliance.

The role requires basic skills in electricity, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC, plus a valid driver's license. Medical benefits and 401(k) matching are highlighted as part of the total compensation.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time apartment maintenance experience or a trade with basics in electricity, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.
• Technical Certification is a plus.
• EPA refrigerant, transition, and recovery certification.
• Strong verbal and written English communication; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Own a basic set of hand tools.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record and auto insurance.
• Able to travel within major metro areas and possibly overnight stays.
• Ability to work some weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Address resident service requests within 24 hours.
• Manage system for handling resident requests and on-call rotation.
• Act in accordance with company policies and laws (ADA, Fair Housing, OSHA).
• Distribute flyers and materials.
• Keep safety materials current and correct unsafe conditions.
• Maintain records of preventive maintenance and make-ready status.
• Schedule and perform minor routine maintenance and inspect tools.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, and related systems.
• Handle on-call duties and standby emergency coverage.
• Assist in property inspections and other duties as assigned.
