Job summary

Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of New York, seeks a Residential Counselor for a full-time, non-exempt role on Staten Island. You will implement the Community Residence and Permanent Housing Program, helping residents learn life skills and document services to support growth toward independence.

Responsibilities include case management, service planning, crisis response, and collaboration with other services. A strong judgment, flexibility, and compassion are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience required.
• Experience helping individuals with serious mental illness or similar population.
• Experience with providing security is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management services to residents.
• Implement individual service plans to attain rehabilitation goals.
• Assist residents with daily living skills and health needs.
• Document services and interactions in resident records.
• Engage residents in goal setting and service evaluation.
• Provide counseling support as needed.
• Draft comprehensive service plans and coordinate services with other providers.
• Manage incidents and minimize risk; notify supervisor.
• Supervise medication distribution when applicable and assist with meals.
• Escort clients to appointments and participate in recreational activities.
• Adhere to NYS OMH regulations and agency policies.
