Job summary

Ohio Living is seeking an Activities Coordinator to plan, organize, and oversee the Activity Department, ensuring a continuous program of activities designed to meet residents’ physical, mental and psychosocial well-being and to comply with governing standards.

You will supervise Activities staff, foster a positive work environment, and coordinate with care teams, families, and departments to deliver engaging programs and maintain quality care for residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, art therapy, or related field preferred.
• Current unencumbered designation to practice as a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality activity programming to residents.
• Interact with residents to ensure quality care and positive resident/staff relations.
• Maintain open and trust-building relationships with resident family members, responding promptly to requests or concerns.
• Review resident concerns/complaints and document action taken.
• Act as community liaison and seek out new, revenue-generating opportunities and referral sources.
• Attend care conferences as necessary.
• Address concerns from Resident/Family Satisfaction Survey.
• Supervise Activities staff.
• Foster a positive work environment and retention of employees.
• Interview, select, and orient new direct reports.
• Define and promote performance expectations and ensure high-quality performance.
• Evaluate staff performance and provide developmental guidance.
• Ensure staffing plans are sufficient when absences occur.
• Respond to questions from departmental staff in a timely manner.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree in recreation, art therapy, or related field

Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) preferred
