Job summary

Community Housing Innovations, Inc. (CHI) seeks a part-time Resident Support Specialist (RSS) for its Commack location to provide a safe, structured living environment for residents and staff.

You will screen clients, conduct bag searches, and monitor conduct during shifts while performing front desk duties and coordinating with management on safety and incident reporting. The role requires strong communication, the ability to de-escalate crises, and comfort working evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, structured environment for CHI residents and staff.
• Screen clients and visitors at intake; conduct bag searches as required.
• Perform administrative and receptionist duties at front desk; monitor surveillance and alarms.
• Assist with room turnover, inventory, and supply management.
• Support afterschool/evening activities as needed.
• De-escalate crisis situations and document interventions.
