Job summary

Community Housing Innovations (CHI) is seeking a part-time Resident Support Specialist for our Commack location. You will help provide a safe, structured environment for residents and staff, and you will monitor client movement and behavior during tours of duty.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and 1–2 years of related experience. Proficiency in English is mandatory; Spanish is a plus. Open shifts include late nights and weekends with overtime opportunity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of related field experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, structured environment for CHI residents and staff.
• Coordinate and verify client movement and monitor conduct during shifts.
• Screen all clients and visitors entering the facility.
• Perform bag searches upon intake and as required.
• De-escalate potential crises and document interventions.
• Conduct rounds of the facility and monitor common areas.
• Complete logs and incident reports; perform front desk duties.
• Monitor video surveillance, alarms, and fire safety systems.
• Support fire drills and evacuations as needed.
• Assist with room turnover and inventory of supplies.
• Inform management of safety or repair needs.
• Support afterschool/evening activities as needed.
