Community Housing Innovations, Inc. (CHI) is seeking a part-time Resident Support Specialist at our Central Islip location to provide a safe, structured environment for residents and staff.

The role includes monitoring, de-escalation, documentation, front desk duties, and ensuring compliance with facility policies; the schedule includes weekend shifts. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and 1–2 years of related experience; English fluency is required, bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience working in related field preferred.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in English required.
• Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus.
• Computer Skills: Basic competency in MS Windows, MS Office, and internet usage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility to residents, staff, and visitors by wearing a safety monitor vest, ID badge, and professional attire.
• Screen all clients and visitors entering the facility.
• Perform bag searches upon intake and as required.
• Ensure clients abide by the facility, DSS, and OTDA policies and procedures.
• De-escalate potential crisis situations and document all interventions.
• Conduct rounds throughout the facility including hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, and other common areas.
