Job summary

Community Housing Innovations, Inc. is seeking a full-time Resident Support Specialist for our Commack location.

The RSS maintains a safe, structured environment, screens entrants, supports residents, and assists with daily operations from front desk duties to incident documentation. You will conduct rounds, monitor safety systems, de-escalate crises, and assist with room turnover while ensuring adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; English proficiency; bilingual Spanish a plus.
• Basic computer skills: MS Windows, MS Office, internet usage.
• Physical ability to tour property, walk distances, and climb stairs.
• Strong prioritization, judgment, and notification skills.
• Ability to work independently or on a team; stay organized; meet deadlines; multitask; be flexible; attentive to details; be even-tempered and a good negotiator.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility to residents, staff, and visitors.
• Screen clients and visitors entering the facility.
• Conduct bag searches at intake and as required.
• Ensure compliance with facility policies.
• De-escalate potential crises and document interventions.
• Conduct rounds throughout the facility.
• Complete logs and incident reports and other documentation.
• Perform administrative and front desk duties.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and fire safety systems.
• Support fire drills and evacuations as needed.
• Assist with room preparation and turnover for new clients.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and report needs to management.
• Support afterschool/evening activities as needed.
