Job summary

Southern Management Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented leasing/administrative assistant to support property management operations in Maryland. The role requires strong communication, record-keeping, and organizational skills, with duties spanning resident relations, newsletters, and coordinating office workflows.

You will work closely with the Property Manager to assist with emergencies, move-in orientations, and maintaining community room reservations, while engaging with local government

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required with 3+ years in leasing or property management
  • Experience with resident relations, billing, and records is preferred
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Establish and achieve goals to reduce turnover and promote longer residency
  • Develop and implement an Annual Customer Care Plan
  • Assist Property Manager with resident concerns and satisfaction
  • Develop relationships with local government and community organizations
  • Oversee clerical duties and procedures in the office
  • Assist in emergencies
  • Prepare the monthly newsletter
  • Meet with residents who have given notice
  • Conduct move-in orientations
  • Maintain and document community room reservations and satisfaction
  • Contribute to team projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Property Manager or Supervisor

Job description

Ideal candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication, excellent people/interpersonal skills, strong customer service, good organization and time management, ability to adapt and multitask in a fast-paced environment, ability to maintain accurate records and documentation, and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be available for rotating weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Establish and achieve specific goals for reducing turnover rates including promoting longer lengths of residency
  • Continued development and implementation of a proactive Annual Customer Care Plan
  • Assist Property Manager with the quality assurance and resident satisfaction including handling resident concerns/requests
  • Develop and maintain a positive and useful relationship with the local government and community organizations
  • Assist in Overseeing the efficient professional flow of clerical duties and procedures in the office
  • Assist in all emergency situations
  • Prepare the monthly newsletter
  • Contact and meet with the residents that have given notice
  • Conducts move-in orientations
  • Maintain, coordinate, and document community room reservations and satisfaction
  • Contribute to the team's effort by accomplishing tasks and assisting with projects as needed
  • Perform various other duties as assigned by Property Manager and/or Supervisor
Skills Required
  • Ability to keep accurate and neat records, meet deadlines, and perform simultaneous multiple tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to cooperatively maintain positive relations with SMC management, residents, fellow team members, the public and local government and community organizations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, self-motivational skills, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle stress, pressure, and emergency situations with poise and sensitivity
  • Working knowledge with Microsoft® Office 2000
  • Proficient use of Yardi as it relates to job responsibilities within 60 days of training
