Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living is seeking a Programming Assistant to organize and implement programs for residents, promoting basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs. The role supports the Programming Director and uses equipment safely during planning and execution of activities.

The position emphasizes flexible, compassionate engagement with residents and strong documentation practices in a memory care setting.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues.
• Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an innovative daily program for residents.
• Lead and implement one-on-ones, small group and large group activities.
• Support, encourage and direct independent activity pursuits, both individually and in small groups.
• Support the resident’s abilities by understanding that all aspects of care can be viewed as an activity.
• Communicate any changes in residents’ condition or behavior to Program Director or Nurse.
• Respond to emergencies and personal emergency response system and know when to call for backup.
• Effectively handles difficult resident behaviors.
• Documents and provides accurate record-keeping as appropriate.
• Communicates and documents residents’ material needs.
