Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living is seeking a compassionate Programming/Activity Assistant to organize and implement programs that meet the individual needs of our residents, promoting self-esteem in a caring, nurturing environment. The role supports the Activity Director in all programming activities.

Responsibilities include developing and delivering a seven-day activity program, leading group activities, and encouraging resident participation.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or higher and experience in aging and disability.
• Knowledge of recreational activities and dementia care required.
• Maintains confidentiality of residents, staff and community.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks with a positive attitude under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and implementation of a seven-day activity program.
• Lead and implement one-on-one, small group and large group activities.
• Encourage independent activity pursuits and resident engagement.
• Support residents’ abilities and view care activities as part of programming.
• Know residents’ backgrounds, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, and cognitive capacity.
• Motivate residents to participate in programming and activities.
• Communicate resident changes to Harbor Care Director.
• Stay with groups during excursions.
