Job summary

Presbyterian Living is seeking a dedicated Resident Assistant at Westminster Place in Evanston, IL to provide compassionate direct and indirect care under nursing supervision.

The position emphasizes teamwork, wellness, and personalized resident experiences in a faith-based senior living community. Hours include shifts with weekend differentials; compensation reflects experience and local rates.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a nursing assistant with the Illinois Department of Public Health.
• Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English; skills needed to use medical terminology on the job.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic; good communication skills.
• Long-term care experience preferred but not required.
• General knowledge of the needs of geriatric residents.

Responsibilities

• Personal hygiene, grooming advice and assistance.
• Dressing assistance.
• Stand-by shower or full bathing assistance.
• Handling and care of clothing and other personal property, including dentures, glasses, hearing aids, prosthetic devices.
• Escorting and transporting residents, transferring as needed.
• Provides assistance to low vision residents by reading mail, menus, schedules, etc.
• Reminds residents of activities and special events.
• Observes and reports perceived changes in resident's physical condition and cognitive/emotional status according to policies and procedures.
• Monitors for and reports unusual occurrences, accidents or safety concerns and reports to Director of Assisted Living.
• Reminds residents to take pre-dispensed, self-administered medications, observes residents and documents whether or not the resident takes the medications according to established policies and procedures.

Position Overview

The main function of this position is to provide direct and indirect care under supervision of the nurse to a selected group of residents.
