Job summary

Presbyterian Living is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct and indirect resident care under the supervision of a nurse. This role supports residents in skilled care or assisted living, with English communication and basic arithmetic skills.

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification in Illinois.
• Ability to speak/read/write English and understand medical terminology.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic; good communication skills.
• Interest in working with older adults; knowledge of geriatric residents.

Responsibilities

• Carries out nursing care with the scope of education/training and ability as assigned by charge nurse.
• Adheres to Presbyterian Homes policies and procedures.
• Guards residents’ rights.
• Communicates properly with co-workers, supervisors, other employees and visitors; interacts with residents to meet social and recreational needs.
• Uses good interpersonal skills to establish relationships with residents.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by Charge Nurse.

Pay:

$20.35–$29.30 per hour (based on years of experience)

Shift and weekend differentials apply where eligible.

$24.00 per hour

Position Overview

The main function of this position is to provide direct and indirect care under supervision of the nurse to a selected group of residents. This role can be in skilled care department or assisted living department. The minimum education, experience and qualifications for this position are: current certification as a nursing assistant with the Illinois Department of Public Health; able to speak, read, write and comprehend English skills needed to use medical terminology on the job; ability to do simple arithmetic; good communication skills; interest in working with older adults; and general knowledge of the needs of geriatric residents

Key Responsibilities

• Carries out nursing care with the scope of education/training and ability as assigned by charge nurse.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of Presbyterian Homes standards of care of the nursing department.
• Guards residents’ rights.
• Communicates properly with co-workers, supervisors, other employees and visitors. Interacts with residents to meet their social and recreational needs.

• Preforms other related duties as assigned by Charge Nurse.

Qualifications & Skills

• CNA Certification in the state of Illinois.
• CPR certified, Accredited by American Heart Association.
• Reading, writing, and comprehension skilled needed to use medical terminology on the job.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic.
• Good communication skills.
• Long-term care experience preferred but not required.
• General knowledge of the needs of general patients.
