Job summary

Presbyterian Living in Evanston, IL is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant for the Westminster Place location. The role is full-time, 7am-3pm, with every other weekend shift and a pay range of $20.35–$29.30 per hour, plus shift/weekend differentials.

Qualifications

• Illinois CNA certification required.
• CPR certification (American Heart Association).
• English reading, writing and comprehension skills to use medical terminology.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic.
• Good communication skills.
• Long-term care experience preferred but not required.
• General knowledge of geriatric residents' needs.

Responsibilities

• Carries out nursing care with the scope of education/training and ability as assigned by charge nurse.
• Adheres to Presbyterian Homes standards of care in nursing department.
• Guards residents’ rights.
• Communicates properly with coworkers, supervisors, and visitors; engages with residents for social/recreational needs.
• Uses interpersonal skills to build relationships with residents.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Charge Nurse.

Position Overview

The main function of this position is to provide direct and indirect care under supervision of the nurse to a selected group of residents. This role can be in skilled care department or assisted living department. The minimum education, experience and qualifications for this position are: current certification as a nursing assistant with the Illinois Department of Public Health; able to speak, read, write and comprehend English skills needed to use medical terminology on the job; ability to do simple arithmetic; good communication skills; interest in working with older adults; and general knowledge of the needs of geriatric residents

Key Responsibilities

• Carries out nursing care with the scope of education/training and ability as assigned by charge nurse.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of Presbyterian Homes standards of care of the nursing department.
• Guards residents’ rights.
• Communicates properly with co-workers, supervisors, other employees and visitors. Interacts with residents to meet their social and recreational needs.
• Uses good interpersonal skills in establishing a relationship with the residents.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living as needed.
• Preforms other related duties as assigned by Charge Nurse.

• CNA Certification in the state of Illinois.
• CPR certified, Accredited by American Heart Association.
• Reading, writing, and comprehension skilled needed to use medical terminology on the job.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic.
• Good communication skills.

• General knowledge of the needs of general patients.
