Job summary

Presbyterian Living’s Westminster Place in Evanston, IL is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant Float to provide direct and indirect care under supervision of the nurse. This part-time role serves residents of skilled nursing or assisted living, with hours 7am-3pm and every other weekend.

You must be Illinois certified with CPR, capable of basic English communications, and comfortable working with older adults.

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification with Illinois Department of Public Health.
• Able to speak, read, write and comprehend English to use medical terminology.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out nursing care as taught and assigned by the charge nurse.
• Follow Presbyterian Homes standards of care in the nursing department.
• Communicate effectively with residents, co-workers, and visitors to meet needs.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Charge Nurse.

Position Overview

The main function of this position is to provide direct and indirect care under supervision of the nurse to a selected group of residents. This role can be in skilled care department or assisted living department.The minimum education, experience and qualifications for this position are: current certification as a nursing assistant with the Illinois Department of Public Health; able to speak, read, write and comprehend English skills needed to use medical terminology on the job; ability to do simple arithmetic; good communication skills; interest in working with older adults; and general knowledge of the needs of geriatric residents

Key Responsibilities

• Carries out nursing care with the scope of education/training and ability as assigned by charge nurse.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of Presbyterian Homes standards of care of the nursing department.
• Communicates properly with co-workers, supervisors, other employees and visitors. Interacts with residents to meet their social and recreational needs.
• Uses good interpersonal skills in establishing a relationship with the residents.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living as needed.
• Preforms other related duties as assigned by Charge Nurse.

Qualifications & Skills

• CNA Certification in the state of Illinois.
• CPR certified, Accredited by American Heart Association.
• Reading, writing, and comprehension skilled needed to use medical terminology on the job.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic.
• Long-term care experience preferred but not required.
• General knowledge of the needs of general patients.
