Job summary

Alden Gardens of Waterford is seeking a dedicated Activity Aide to implement the daily activity calendar and support the Activity Director in delivering a person-centered program for residents. You will help ensure compliance with policies, state and federal regulations, and the mission of the activity program.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• At least 1 year experience in healthcare, volunteering, or with the disabled population.
• Current knowledge of Federal and State activity regulations and/or ability to understand and interpret.
• Be able to read and write English.
• Bi-lingual abilities may be preferred by facility.
• Must have a valid IL driver’s license.
• Must be punctual and time efficient, especially regarding the activity calendar.
• Possess empathy, compassion, understanding, enthusiasm, personable, energetic, positive, and humorous demeanor.
• Must relate and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
• Must communicate effectively with the community, other health professionals, outside organizations, and government agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide feedback to Activity Director for monitoring achievement of facility goals.
• Lead a therapeutic, person-centered activity program to enhance quality of life.
• Follow all Activity Policies, Procedures, and Federal/State regulations.
• Know each resident’s background to ensure a person-centered activity plan.
• Plan daily activities reflecting residents’ schedules, choices, and rights.
• Address language services and communication needs of residents.
• Conduct and complete initial and ongoing assessments across multiple domains.
• Document and complete required documentation per Activity Director.
• Maintain records: daily participation, progress notes, interest surveys, and planning sheets.
• Update activity boards with a monthly creative theme.
• Facilitate community involvement and invite community events.
• Assist in resident outings and transportation as needed.
• Follow Activity staff schedules with teamwork and continuity of care.
• Work with staff and volunteers as a team.
• Maintain schedule structure and obtain permission for changes.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; notify needs within 48 hours.
• Update calendars and boards daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
