Job summary

The Alden Network in Illinois is seeking an energetic Activity Aide to manage the daily activity calendar and support residents' well-being. You will implement the activity program under the direction of the Activity Director, ensuring programs meet the residents' psychosocial and recreational needs.

Responsibilities include updating calendars, coordinating outings, documenting participation and progress, and collaborating with staff to provide person-centered activities that reflect residents'

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• At least 1 year in healthcare, volunteering, or experience with disabled population.
• Knowledge of federal/state activity regulations or ability to interpret.
• Able to read and write English.
• Bi-lingual abilities preferred for some facilities.
• Valid IL driver's license.
• Punctual and time efficient relative to activity calendar.
• Empathy, compassion, and positive interaction with residents, families and staff.
• Able to relate to ill, disabled, elderly, and at times hostile individuals.
• Effective communication with community, health professionals, and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide feedback to Activity Director for monitoring facility goals.
• Lead a therapeutic, person-centered activity program to enhance quality of life.
• Follow all Activity policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Learn each resident's background to create person-centered activity plans.
• Ensure activities are daily and reflect residents' rights and choices.
• Understand communication needs of residents (language services, boards).
• Conduct and oversee assessments related to social, medical, cognitive, and spiritual needs.
• Document and complete required documentation per Activity Director.
• Maintain records: daily participation, progress notes, leisure surveys, planning sheets.
• Update activity boards monthly with creative themes.
• Facilitate community involvement and outings.
• Coordinate with staff to follow schedules and maintain continuity of care.
• Work with staff and volunteers as a team.
• Maintain schedule adherence; cannot cancel activities without director approval.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; notify needs and repairs promptly.
• Update calendars and boards daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
