Job summary

The Alden Network seeks an enthusiastic activity support professional to lead a therapeutic, person-centered activity program for residents. You will collaborate with the Activity Director to plan and implement daily activities aligned with the residents’ backgrounds, needs, and preferences.

Requirements include at least a high school diploma, 1 year in healthcare or related experience, and a valid IL driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of healthcare experience, volunteering, or personal experience with disabled population.
• Knowledge of Federal and State activity regulations and ability to interpret them.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Bi-lingual abilities may be preferred depending on facility.
• Valid IL driver’s license.
• Punctual and time efficient, especially with activity calendar.
• Empathy, compassion, understanding, enthusiasm, personable, energetic, positive, humorous to interact with residents, families, and staff.
• Ability to relate to ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and occasionally hostile people.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the community, health professionals, outside organizations, senior services, government agencies, and other providers.
• Ability to manage emotional needs of self and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide feedback to the Activity Director for monitoring facility and program goals.
• Lead a therapeutic, person-centered activity program to enhance quality of life.
• Follow all Activity Policies and Federal/State regulations.
• Develop resident-specific activity plans based on backgrounds and needs.
• Plan daily activities reflecting resident schedules, choices, and rights.
• Support communication needs of residents (language services, boards).
• Conduct ongoing assessments across social, medical, cognitive, and other domains.
• Document all required records per Activity Director.
• Maintain activity boards with monthly themes.
• Facilitate community involvement and invite external events.
• Assist in resident outings and transport.
• Follow staff schedules and maintain continuity of care.
• Work as a team with staff and volunteers.
• Maintain timely activities and avoid cancellations without approval.
• Keep equipment and supplies organized; notify when restocking is needed.
• Update calendars and boards daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
